Our Story
Our story begins fall semester 2011 at the University of Florida. Though Robert and Katrina shared a class together and stole frequent glances towards each other, neither could find the courage to introduce themselves. Katrina was nervous to approach the tall blonde man with a serious expression, and Robert was taken aback by her big bold Miami sunglasses and a look that said “I am bad bitch”. It wasn’t until early the next year that the two would finally interact at a resident event. Over a fierce game of Uno, the two quickly became enamored with each other. Soon after, they embarked on their first date- a romantic lunch at Panda Express.
The young couples first year was full of highlights. Their second date lasted over eight hours with a hike through most of UF’s nature trails, several skipped classes, and two sore faces from smiling so much. An early date featured an impromptu invite from Robert’s cousin (thanks Chris!) to take an aerial tour of Gainesville. Katrina was hesitant to go at first (she had an exam the next day) but she ended up loving the unique perspective of the city. Robert then gave the couple their first major challenge. He neglected to mention that as a Resident Assistant, he wasn’t allowed to date residents of his dorm. When his boss found out, the couple was in trouble. After threatening to move Katrina out of her dorm for several months, they finally did it. One week before final exams! Soon after, Robert was not invited to return as an RA the next year. The couples story became a cautionary tale told to new RA’s, but after 10 years together you can guess who had the last laugh. In the years since they met, a lot has changed in Robert and Katrina’s lives. They have moved over 8 times, including a relocation from Gainesville to Crestview. They have added a beautiful puppy to their family and watched as their already large extended family gained new members. Soon Robert and Katrina will make it official (about time!) and tie the knot. They are excited to share this celebration with family and friends and look forward to seeing you this summer! |
